We started this because someone we love had to quit caffeine.
In 2019, my wife Leah went into premature labor at just twenty weeks pregnant with our first child. She spent almost a month in hospital while her doctors fought to keep our daughter safely where she was - in the womb. The doctors' orders for the rest of the pregnancy were simple: no stimulants (especially caffeine) among other things.
The strange part? Her husband - that's me, Brendon. I'd spent 10+ years roasting specialty coffee. And like every other roastery, I only ever stocked one sad decaf. Watching her settle for something I wasn't really proud of, on top of everything she was already going through, didn't sit right with me.
